Monetary Donations
CHAPS graciously accepts monetary donations, of any amount, to be used towards its programs and special events.  Designated donations may fund one of our specific programs, and open donations are put towards the program which represents the most need.

Material Donations
·        Rummage Sale: The Drop-In-Center has a rummage sale two to three times a year.  All of the proceeds generated from this sale help fund special trips and events for CHAPS' consumers throughout the year.  During the week prior to each rummage sale, CHAPS graciously accepts donations of clean and gently used clothing, house wares, toys, books, electronics and other items to be sold in our rummage sales.

·        Personal Care Items: CHAPS puts together care packages for homeless and near homeless individuals who may be in need of personal items. These items include, but are not limited to, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, personal hygiene items, bedding and towels.

·        Art Supplies: The Journey Center holds a weekly art class that encourages consumers to express themselves through creativity.  Art class can be used as a form of therapy or as a coping method for a variety of mental illnesses.  We graciously accept art supply donations including: paints, brushes, canvases, sketch paper, colored pencils, glue and beads.

·        AmeriCorps VISTAThrough the years CHAPS has partnered with "The Lake Effect Leaders" to host individuals involved in the National Service program AmeriCorps VISTA. VISTAs are chosen once a year to dedicate themselves to one specific project, focusing on the betterment of CHAPS and the Meadville community. Visit the AmeriCorps VISTA website at www.americorps.gov/VISTA

Furniture Closet
CHAPS collaborates with the Crawford County Coalition on Housing Needs to assist in the operation of the local Furniture Closet. The Furniture Closet collects donated furniture and, at no cost, redistributes to individuals and families who are in need.  Furniture donations include, but are not limited to: couches dressers, tables, chairs, bed frames and other household furniture.  All furniture must be clean and in useable condition. The Furniture Closet is supported by the United Way of Western Crawford County.
