  • Crawford County Mental Health Awareness Program, Inc. (CHAPS) is seeking a full-time Housing Advocate/Mental Health Caseworker. Duties include providing intensive case management and life skills services to persons who are experiencing homelessness or are near homeless, as well as persons with serious mental illness. This position involves assisting consumers with the identification of and connection to needed community services and resources, including permanent housing.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related human service field or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the human service field. Applicant must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have the ability to communicate well, orally and in writing and possess basic computer skills. Ability and willingness to work in consumer’s home, community and with other staff to provide support based on the individual needs of the consumer. Must possess the ability to set priorities and problem solve, as well as complete tasks with minimal supervision. Applicant must be trustworthy, compassionate, and empathetic.

  • CHAPS is seeking recovery-oriented workers for our In Home and Community Supports program. This program serves adults with intellectual disabilities. Part time positions are available for caring, dependable workers to provide support to individuals in each program. The position includes flexible morning, evening, and weekend shifts. Previous experience in human services/working with intellectual disabilities preferred, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills and belief that recovery is possible for all. Candidates must possess valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent.

    Duties to include:
    Connecting participants to community resources, including both physical and mental health professionals
    Assisting participants with independent living and social skills
    Other activities which positively impact progress made toward goals as outlined in participants’ Individualized Support Plans (ISP’s)

    Staff and individuals wear masks when they are out in the community. CHAPS doors are locked, and the public must ring the doorbell and answer a series of screening questions before entering the building. Cars are supplied with hand sanitizer, wipes, etc.
