The Journey Center Clubhouse offers members an opportunity to contribute, be valued, and achieve or regain the confidence and skills necessary to lead productive and satisfying lives. Members work and learn together while contributing their talents through a community of mutual support. Through a "work-ordered" day and various units, members have certain responsibilities including tasks that are essential to the operation of the clubhouse. The Journey Center has two work units, including the Business Affairs unit and Growing Healthy unit. Activities within these units include receptionist work, outreach, member orientation, data collection and entry, newsletter publication, clerical work, computer usage, gardening, speakers, self-help groups, recreation, exercise, cooking, menu planning, and other activities driven by member interest. The Vocational/Educational component of the units provides support and education in areas including: interviewing skills, resume writing, employment support, accessing employment opportunities, accessing educational and training programs, and developing study skills.
